Heartbroken

Friends, I'm heartbroken tonight. I had a blankie finished for a barely 3 month old baby girl with holoprosencephaly. They didn't know how long she would live. I emailed the grandma who requested the blankie for her address. When she sent it I saw she lived right here in Utah, and close. So I emailed her and said can I hand deliver it? She emailed me back and said she would ask her daughter. Then she emailed me and said the baby has pnemonia and they don't know if she'll survive the next couple of days. So I was going to go today. But I never got there. The boys being back in school and i had to go get them for a dentist appointment. I was going to go tomorrow morning. When I got home tonight I had an email from the grandma. Sweet Lily passed away tonight. I missed it, missed my chance to see a piece of heaven before she went home. I'm so sick that I missed my chance. Now I'm going to have the blankie embroidered with her name, birth and death date for a rememberance blankie. Please pray for Lily's family tonight.

Oh...I am so sorry!! I bet that is the tough part of your blankies, hearing about the kids that don't make it. Poor sweet Lily's family. That is very sweet of you to make it into a remembrance blanket.

Oh Lacey I am so sorry. I still remember the first time I was called and told that a child with Ds had passed away. It was a dear friend of our family, Jeff was best friends with the mom's brother in high school. It was hard then and it is hard every time I get another obituary. You've opened your heart to make these blankets for these beautiful children and you make a difference in these peoples lives. Unfortunately when we give we also expose our hearts to break every now and then. You're doing so much good hang in there.

Hi dear Lacey - In my opinion just the very fact that you had a blankie made for sweet Lily seems more than delivery it! For Lily someone who otherwise would not even have known about her, made her a beautiful blankie and thought that she was worth it! Lily knows today what a special and wonderful person you are dear Lacey! Im sure her parents would treasure the remembrance blankie! Lacey - YOU cared enough to make this for sweet Lily, not many people care enough to have an impact on peoples livs! I am honored to call you my friend! God bless! Megs

Lacey, please don't let your efforts and your beautiful intentions go un -noticed(by you). The fact that you find time in your life to make and whenever possible deliver these gorgeous blankies to others , blows me away. Oh, that was so nice of you to make a blanket for them. Who knows maybe the family would like the blanket now anyways as a keepsake.

It breaks my heart to hear that there is another little angel in heaven.

I know how bad you must feel. I met a very nice woman at Childrens Mercy and she told me about her blog and about her daughter who was upstairs fighting for her life. I continued to follow her blog and we had 3 appointments coming up all in a week and I wanted to go up and see how they were doing. I read her blog that morning and her daughter was smiling in pics. Carson hadn't had a nap so I decided I would catch them in a couple of days. The next morning I got on my blog and found she had passed the night before. It was such a sick feeling in my stomach to think I missed seeing her smiling face. Don't feel bad, you have such wonderful intentions and I know that family is going to cherish your blankie forever.
