Crash course in Jaxson 101!!

Before we get to Mondo's Jaxson lesson, I wanted to post some pics from our first outing with Jax out of the hospital. His favorite, swimming. He looks unhappy but that's just while he's getting used to the water!

We even got Tanner in, and enjoying it! With his autism, he hates the water, and its usually a fight every time we go swimming, so this was a nice change.

Sitting in shallow water, just chillin!

Ok, lesson time. We are lucky that our kids are getting a little older, and Mondo's at the age were he can babysit. My shy oldest is such a good big brother! He knows how to suction, do feeds, and other medical junk. But one thing he's never done....changed a diaper!

Sounds crazy I know, but Jax is a predictable pooper! He only pee's big with his diuretics, and since his bowels don't work, he never poops on his own. So Mondo's never really needed to change a diaper. Well, since being on the vent, we are still trying to get his distended belly down to normal. And in the last week, he has pooped on his own, because of all the pressure in his belly.
Me and Ray went to dinner and a movie last night. At the very end of the movie, Mondo called. He said mom, Jaxson pooped and its on the carpet. I told him to change him and he said. "I don't know how to do that!" Whoops, I guess he's right! I told him to go get a towel and put it under his bum. And get the wipes and a diaper and change him.
We hurried home, and actually he didn't do too bad for his first time. The diaper was on good, but the explosion still showing!

So Jax gets a night bath, and props for showing up his big brother!

Mondo holds no grudge, but how could you with this sweet little face?!

Mondo is amazing! My girls would have DEMANDED I come home. They'll change the pp ones but never in a hundred years would they touch something like that! Awesome job big brother.

We now have 6 children.
When our oldest 2 started babysitting for others, they didn't know how to change diapers either.
We got a big kick out of that too, that they were the oldest of several and had never changed a diaper.
Isn't it awesome to be able to go out and not worry so much for just a little while?!
Glad you got a short break.

What a great big brother!!! Abbey and Emma don't want anything to do with changing a diaper and they are girls. How awesome is it that Mondo is able to babysit Jax. Many adults would probably be afraid to....Mondo you are awesome!!

I am laughing so hard right now because this sounds like our oldest, Jacob. Jacob is very willing to watch Gavin for us for a few hours at a time and he knows how to handle a seizure, a gagging episode, and how to hook up or disconnect Gavin's feeding pump.......but, when it comes to a diaper change....forget it!

I give Mondo lots of credit and a high five! It looks like he did a great job, even though there was evidence of the mess when you got home! I'm quite sure that Jacob would have left the diaper change for me when I got home! Great job Mondo!!!

Isn't it crazy, and yet, so great that our oldest boys are willing and unafraid of watching our complicated boys.....so many people are fearful of taking on this task, but our children just take it all in stride.....well, minus the poopy diapers anyway! :)

Love and Hugs!!!

Wow Mondo! You are awesome. Jacob will not do diapers. He does help with everything else, but I cannot convince him to do diapers. He's a bit younger though, so I don't leave Emily alone with him.

Looks like a fun time swimming!

That's hilarious! I can totally see how the diaper change would be one of the lesser lessons on taking care of our little ones. But good job for Mondo for giving it a shot as new as it may be and to have to change that kind of diaper. Kudos to him! Glad you were able to have a night out with your husband even if it was cut a llttle short. And glad you have a big brother who is so willing to help so you can do those kinds of things.
