The boys went off track today. They've only been home one day and their already driving me crazy. But tomorrow they get to help clean so I can make them being home useful.
I had my doctors appointment today. I'm so proud of myself for not canceling it. I was very close, but I knew some friends would be quite upset with me if I did. He did a thorough exam since it was my first time in that office. And some blood work. But the good thing is he thinks the headaches and heart palpitations are definitely stress. He put me back on the prozac in hopes that it will ward off the headaches by keeping me calmer. We'll see.
Another good thing is I have had these red dots on my arms and legs that look like petikei, which in children is a sign of luekemia. But he said they were just a skin rash, and just fine. I also could have kissed the resident because he told me I only have to lose about 10 pounds to be in the "normal" range. I feel like its more than that but I'll start with a 10 pound goal. So I think I deserve a sticker for being such a good girl at the doctor.
I also had a looong talk with Jaxsons pulmonologist today. I feel much better and the trach is scheduled for the 29th of October. I will call ENT tomorrow and see if he wants to move it up. I do because I don't want to change my mind. Plus, he'll miss Halloween and I've already bought him a costume. Its not like we've haven't been in the hospital during a holiday before, but it still sucks. She told me this will help him grow and get stronger and then when he gets bigger we can take it out. But he needs it right now for his cardiopulmonary problems. So we do what we always do. We hit it head on!
Sticker? You deserve a day at the spa!!
ReplyDeleteYou deserve a really big super deluxe sticker:)
ReplyDeleteWhy are the boys home???
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kristin........You definitely need a day at the spa :0)
Heart issues and things like that should never be put on the back burner......So YAY for going!!! If you didn't, I would've yelled at you and you wouldn't want me to do that now would you??lol
How is Jaxson doing?? Is he recovering well??
Getting the trach will most likely make a world of difference for him.......In your pictures, he looks very pooped out.....poor little buddy....
What are you dressing him up as??? :0)
I'm so happy that things are beginning to look more positive, and that you are able to see it with more of a sense of hope now.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how much better it is when you can take a deep breath and relax a bit.
Kudos on going through with your appointment. I think it tends to be a universal problem with Mom's like us. Always putting ourselves last. Good for you!
I'm with Kristin! Good for you for following through with it! I am so glad things are looking up!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to read your post today. You sound so much more 'upbeat'. As upbeat as one can be in such a difficult situation.
ReplyDeleteI too, think you deserve a day at the spa!
SO glad things are better today. I hope they can move the surgery date up! It's NEVER fun to be in the hospital during a holiday. Ben seems to think otherwise though because we seem to hit MOST of them on a yearly basis. (sigh)
ReplyDeleteYou definitely deserve a sticker! I hope you can move the surgery up - waiting is always so stressful.
ReplyDeleteSo happy prayers are being heard for you...things are moving in a positive direction and that is all a parent can ask for...so happy you are listening to your body and I say you deserve a "ROLL" of stickers! You are one incredible woman!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with the others you definately need a day off to pamper yourself! YAY for going to the doctors, I had to push myself to do the same earlier this year.
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet pictures of the boys, don't they all look like angels, hard to imagine them driving anyone crazy, but I totally understand how deceptive pictures can be, I have a seven year old myself!!!
So glad that something has been finalised regarding Jax and a date has been set, as hard as everything seems, I am sure it's whats going to be best for him. You also sound a little more relaxed, which is so nice to hear/read. Stay strong, and prayers continue for Jaxs
You deserve more then a sticker for sure ... how about a trip to Hawaii???
ReplyDeleteYay for you - doc appts never seem to fit in:) I am happy things are getting figured out for jax...I want to seem him get BIG and STRONG!
ReplyDeleteYou can't fool me Lacey. It sounds like there was some good news in that post! Well, your doctor's visit is one thing you can cross off your list! I'm really glad you were able to focus on yourself and you got some good news.
ReplyDeleteJust a sticker?! How about a lollipop too?! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that the doctor feels you are doing well, besides the stress factor.....hopefully this will soon change for you as well!
I hope they can move up Jaxson's surgery, better to get it over with!
Cute pictures of the boys! Hope you enjoy your weekend! HUGS!!!
You can send Carter to me! My dog needs a workout
ReplyDeleteYes....we would love to have you come visit. Come now, it will reduce your stress :) Good girl for making it to the doctor..I am not go about going either. So are these new pictures of the boys? Jax looks awesome in them!!!
ReplyDeleteOH I am so glad you went to the doctor! Time to do a little TLC...I know it is so hard and the furthest thing from your mind, but you need it my dear. I wish you were next door then I could do it myself...we could have our lunch salad together, healthy snack and laugh...laughter is always good for the soul, eh! :) That's great you got to talk to the doc for Jax for so long today and get some peace in all of this. Jax is strong and he'll have the chance to become even stronger with his trach. One day at a time, slow and steady as our dear friend always says! :) Love you my dear...I am here always!
ReplyDeleteYou're awesome Lacey. glad you're okay. and glad you finally got a doctor's appointment for YOU squeezed in! I hope the surgery can get moved up. I'm sure it would be nicer for all if it wasn't so close to Halloween! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for the spa too! Ok, so what is Jax' costume? Did you already say and I missed it somehow?
ReplyDeleteHi I have been reading your blog for quite a while. It inspires me to keep going at times when I am ready to throw in thw towel. The other day I was using a computer up at PCMC and saw Jaxson, (well to be honest I saw that he was wearing baby legs leg warmers which I thought was funny cause I had never seen another child other then mine wearing them) Then yesterday I was reading your blog and it dawned on me that that was Jaxson. Anyways I just wanted to thank you for being so open on your blog. i love to read it.
ReplyDeleteYou and I should team up and open an orphanage, change the world - at least the Down Syndrome world...take them all in, love them, care for them...EH!
ReplyDeleteYour post just reminded me of when we were younger, and you did something great in school you would get one of those gold star stickers. Wasn't that just the greatest?
ReplyDeleteI stopped by to let you know that Jaxson is on a prayer list on my blog. Come by and see.
christina
That is awesosme Lacey! I agree with the others. You need a spa day for that!
ReplyDeletePraying all goes well with Jax. Have I told you my neighbor is a respiratory therapist? Most of their little kiddos at the center have trachs. Hoping it will give Jax some relief.
Yes boy with oxygen in stroller is my little guy. No he doesn't have CF he has a disease called non CF-Bronchiectasis (its just the yucky lung part of the CF)
ReplyDeleteGlad for you to have resolve of this issue, but will be so relieved for you to have it BEHIND you!
ReplyDeleteYou captured some precious family shots there Lacey! So sweet!
So glad that you made time to take care of yourself, of course I have to agree on the spa day!
ReplyDeleteYay for you for sticking with your dr appt!
ReplyDeleteI would want it moved up too - like you said - too much time to think about it and change my mind!
That sounds promising that when he gets bigger it'll probably come out and that he just needs it for right now.
I hope he won't have to be in the hospital for Halloween!
