We got a package in the mail today all the way from South Africa. Meagan and Keaton send us some stuff from Africa. Some animals and other nic nacs.
Look at these, there pencil sharpeners. The boys can use them in school. The funny thing is when this package came, Jax therapist who is also from South Africa was here working with him. She said a lot of stuff in Africa is wood and painted like this. Too cool.
Also this beautiful book and this cute soccer t-shirt for Jax. The world cup is going to be held there next year. We sent a blankie and some of our Thomas trains to Keatons cousin Deqlan that battled cancer and now being diagnosed with Autism.
Thanks Meagan and Keaton, we can't wait for pics of our stuff when it gets there!

Matthew uses Aveeno Baby sunscreen. It works just fine for Matthew, although he doesn't have the same fair complexion as Carter. I think Aveeno also makes a waterproof sunscreen. Another one to try is Neutrogena. I use an SPF 85 that's water resistant. It's non-greasy and it stays on. Might be worth a try?
ReplyDeleteYUP! Carter looks like my Jett and Mike, big time WHITE BOYS!
ReplyDeleteI really like the sunscreen by Arbonne, Mike lathers it on his neck when he is on the football field and it is the only one that doesn't stain his shirts and it really works well!
Sweet package from Africa!!
Kiss the Jaxs for us!
I use that very sunscreen and don't have a problem although my kids may be as fair. I think the key is that you have to reapply every 2-3 hours. Also, not sure if this is completely true but I have heard that anything over SPF 30 really isn't any better.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Bull Frog. It definitely tends to stay on MUCH better in water and it rubs in better too. Always had an allergic reactions to Coppertone so BullFrog it was. I is a completely different consistency than any other sunscreen that we've used, but it has seemed to work the best and last the longest.
ReplyDeleteI use Banana Boat for kids in a pink bottle. I use the SPF 75. I burned through the Coppertone Sport stuff just last week. So I bought the Banana Boat stuff and it worked. Hope this helps and neat gifts you received.
ReplyDeleteWe use Banana Boat Baby - the aerosal no rub kind - I hate getting sunscreen on my hands and then having to make a bottle or something. Then we use a stick for the face - can't recall what brand... Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMy 11 year old son who is blonde, blue eyed and fair skinned, burned when we used the Coppertone also.I have found that Banana Boat and Bullfrog are the best, although I have used the Coppertone for babies with good results for Ruby.
ReplyDeleteSo cool you got lots of neat things from Africa!
I always use Aveeno Baby too, so far so good.
ReplyDeleteCool things from Africa.
My boys are so fair and one of them is always getting sunburned in the summer! I use all kinds of products and don't see a difference in most of them.
ReplyDeleteI recently talked to a friend who has great success keeping her girls from getting burned. She said she uses A LOT of sunscreen each application and maybe I'm not putting enough on. Plus, she said that the thicker the lotion, the better. And, to reapply when they get wet a lot.
What a nice surprise in the mail! I love getting fun stuff like that, instead of bills all the time!
Aiden uses WaterBabies.
ReplyDeleteI use coppertone waterbabies, but NOT the spray on. The sprayons have something in them that burns me worse than not wearing sunscreen. Try the lotion version and apply every 2-3 hours. It also comes in an SPF 70+ version now.
ReplyDeleteFrom a redhead, fair skinned lurker
That is so cool!!!
ReplyDeleteWe use Coppertone Sport Ultra Sweatproof or something like that.....
Avery uses water babies :0)
You know... we're having an issue with sunscreen this year too! My kids are burning no matter how much we lather it on. They have a good base now. Oh well...
ReplyDeleteCute stuff from Africa!
I use Banana Boat (I think they both are that). Matt makes me put on sunscreen =( lol See you tomorrow! No running away wahahaha
ReplyDeleteThis year I have been using banana boat and have had good luck. My two older kids don't really burn - but boy I can tell already Carter is going to have an issue with sunburning.
ReplyDeleteWay cool stuff from Africa - how fun to receive a package from out of the country!! I love packages - it's like Christmas! I even like it when something shows up at my door that I have ordered!
Yay. yay, yay so happy your recieved your package! It was bought and packed with all our love!! SO happy you loved the sharpeners - they are very cute and I thought the boys could use it!
ReplyDeleteCannot wait for your package to arrive! This is soooo fun......

The only sunscreen Carson can use is Vanicream. They have lotions, soaps, and sunscreens. This is the only product the doctors at Children's Mercy told me to use on him. As you can tell, Carson is out in the sun a lot and I have never seen him burned. They have a website at Vanicream.com and if you spend over a certain amount, it is free shipping. It really isn't much more than if you went to wal-mart and bought soaps, lotions, or sunscreen.
ReplyDeleteAs for the soccer shirt, my boys would be jealous.
How long were you outside and how often did you re-apply? I found with Baylee's heart meds we have to re-apply like every 1-2 hours. I use Equate (Wal-Mart off brand) SPF 50 and works perfect... plus, it's cheap! Baylee is allergic to Coppertone Babies and would burn and break out in this rash. AWFUL!
ReplyDeleteHugs - Tiff
I read in Consumor(SP) products, that Wallgreen's Spray on SPF 50 is the best sunscreen!
ReplyDeleteCool stuff from Africa! As far as sunscreen... I am surprised b/c Andrew and Jonathon both are fair skinned blondies and thats all I use is Coppertone Sport spf 50 and have never had a problem. Sorry, no help here. I hope u find something that works.
