The curler experiment!

Last night we did an experiment.
An experiment you don't usually try on a two year old, but remember, this is a momma that has been waiting nearly 13 years to have a girl!
Yesterday I bought her some pink/spongy curlers. Remember, the curlers your mom used to put in your hair the night before a dance performance? I didn't even know if they still existed.
They do!

Ready mom! Lets do this!

Uh, this thing is supposed to make me beautiful??

All done! Never underestimate the power of the ipad!

Wow, this feels wierd!

I thought maybe a shower cap would keep the curlers in their place, and ward off any grabbing!

Surprisingly, the cap was still in place in the morning! But my shower cap plan backfired! While everything stayed put, her hair was still wet!

We waited a couple more hours, and even used the blow dryer. But much of her hair was still wet when we took the curlers out!
Bummer!

I still call it a success! All curlers survived. Next time we'll find a hair net to keep them in place, and hopefully they'll dry!

  1. The "this feels weird" photo MUST be entered into some kind of photo contest. It is priceless! Looks like her hair will take curl well :)

  8. so cute. Whenever I tried the pink curlers on my girls we had to let their hair dry a quite a bit before we put the curlers in. I also tried tying their hair up in rags and that worked almost better than the curlers because they couldn't feel them while they slept.

  10. We used rag curlers, on my daughter, they seemed to dry better and are more comfortable to sleep in. Just take a t-shirt and cut it into strips, roll the hair around the strip, then tie the two ends of the strip together. Works great!

  11. Her hair looks darling! I love my Caruso steam curlers. They are foam too, but you put them in dry hair after steaming for 5 seconds. They only take 10 minutes to set and last all day.

  14. I agree with Kristen's mom. The hair needs to be just damp and not actually wet. Like bathe before dinner and put them in before bed - unless her hair dries fast. You can always use a spray bottle to dampen. SOOOO adorable!!

  17. Omg, this is HILARIOUS!!!!! Love her expressions. :-) My grandmother used to do pincurls in my hair, and set it all with a hair net. Looks like this was a resounding success, though! Adorable!

  21. If you wash her hair and then dry it and put the curlers right in after you dry it, and then go over the curlers with the dryer, and then use the shower cap and let her go to bed... they will really stay - i have baby fine hair and this is the only way that the curls will stay... :)

    She is the cutest!
