Daddy emailed me pics, but they aren't opening right, so no pics again, sorry!
Arina woke up pretty happy this morning. But the girl won't touch a bottle. As of 2:00 pm today, she still hasn't taken a drop. She'll put the bottle in her mouth, but won't drink. We tried a slushy, thinking that would taste good. Nope!
She also lost her IV this morning. They held out on placing another one, hoping she would drink for us, by its a no go. So by tonight, they'll place another one to give her fluids. No home today, the girl needs to eat something!
My nursing sense says throw an NG and we can pull it when she eats, but that wouldn't feel good on a sore throat. I just need to be patient!
I've been crazy busy running around, so know that I'm keeping tabs on our friends, but I don't have time to leave comments.
On a funny note, Arina picked the hospital to achieve another great milestone. She pulled herself up to standing on the couch in her room! She's done it several times since then. She just needs to see she can do it once, then she masters it! Wahoo!!
what a pooper...not drinking...stubborn girl!
ReplyDeleteand hooray for standing up!
First of all, I LOVE your new blog header, Lacey! Beautiful! Second, I'm so glad to hear how great Arina did with everything, and that she's pulling to stand! What a star she is!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteEat little Princess, eat!!! Hang in there momma! Hopefully she'll be throwing back the bottles in no time!
ReplyDeleteLittle stinker - drink!!!
ReplyDeleteYay for pulling to stand - maybe she's just too busy for a bottle right now!
Have you tried giving her liquid with a medicine syringe? When Kaia had her T&A (she was 22 mths) we were told no bottle or sippy becuase of the suction being bad for the stitches. She couldn't drink from an open cup at the time so we would use the syringe to put drops of liquid in her mouth every 15 minutes or so. The throat needs to stay moist since it hurts more when it's dried out then the drink refusal begins. The syringe was a pain in the butt, but it was worth not having dehydration issues. Once she had a little bit of liquid, she was more open to popsicles and jello. Stay on top of the pain meds too!
ReplyDeleteI don't blame her for not drinking.....OUCH! I'm sure that she'll do it soon though! Hope she stays pain-free and is able to come home soon!
ReplyDeleteAnd, WAY TO GO sweet girl! Just had surgery and she's still mastering tricks! What a girl! Hugs!!!
Aww - poor girl! Praying she drinks soon! - Maureen C
ReplyDeleteI'll be praying she starts drinking soon. I love your header, your kiddos are SOOOOOO beautiful, put a huge smile right on my face.

ReplyDeleteGlad surgery went well and I hope your darling daughter drinks soon so she can go home. ((HUGS)) I am sure Jax misses her..
I like the header - love how you joined the two kiddos!
ReplyDeleteI am assuming that they are giving her something for the sore throat? Poor thing - she's probably like my kiddos and being stubborn and until she's ready, she's not gonna drink.
Love that she pulled up - way to go princess!
Praying she eats for them and she can come home!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new header...too cute!
What a bummer!! I love the new look on your blog. The heading picture and title...perfect. I love the picture of Ariana and Jax together. Look at those cute smiles. Hope your princess is home tomorrow. Hugs
