Surgery for the princess

Tomorrow the princess goes under anesthesia for the first time. She's having her tonsils and adnoids out, along with an ABR hearing test.
Even though T&A surgery is one of the most common, not only with DS kids, but with our typical kids, it still makes me nervous. Mondo had his out at 6. It was horrible! I would rather do open heart surgery again. He had two trips to the ER for dehydration and hemorrhaging. He dropped to a mere 29 lbs. One pound bigger than his 3 year old brother! Although my worries for her are different, the biggest being that her tiny DS airway swells enough that she doesn't breathe. I saw that many times when I worked up there, the only downside to my job, I saw everything bad that can happen! My naughty little DS kido's!
She doesn't go in until 1:00, so don't worry if I don't do an update early. She'll stay at least overnight, longer if she won't drink or has other complications.
Prayers for our princess's first surgery are appreciated!

Oh, and there's a brush in her bed because she is all girl, and carries combs and brushes with her everywhere!

Good luck with the surgery, I read it on FB and left a comment regarding the anesthesia, gosh I didn't realise how risky it is for them to go under, Saira might need the same op but now I am really thinking 10 times about it. So what happens in such cases, do they need to have other specialists around when kids with DS have to have anesthesia? I will be praying really hard for Arina....God will be watching over her and I am sure everything will go fine. Can't wait to get the news that it's over and all went well.

Love the pictures of the sleeping beuty doing all her yoga poses...wow isn't it amazing how they can move their legs all over the place.

Your last post was really upsetting, so very sorry about what you are having to face when it comes to Jax's medical problems,it's so frustrating when one doesn't have answers and you're not sure who is on the same page as you. I really hope the answers come and the support team you need so badly. You are such an amazing mom, the best mom Jax could ever have, and I am sure you will do everything in your power to get those answers to all your concerns. Praying for Jax and for miracles. Love those pictures of Arina lovin on Jax, they are such a sweet pair. Hugs to both

Prayers for sweet Arina, and you're right T&A is aweful!!! My 8 year old had hers out last year and it was horrendous. I would have loved to have a feeding tube in that girl for the two weeks post op! Good luck for anesthesia and a textbook recovery.

Keeping Arina in my prayers today!!

I agree tonsils are not fun. Taveon got his adnoids out at 9 months old without a problem and then had his tonsils out at 2 years and that was ugly. We also ended up back in the hospital for a couple more days. Not fun!!

I really hope things go smoothly for her today and she will be a good girl!!

Good luck today!
Re: Blurb - it "slurps" all your info into a standard (all pictures tiny in a side column) template. That's what took me so long - reformatting everything so the pictures were bigger. It also puts one post per page - so it's a lot of wasted space if you don't reformat it...

Great new header.
P.S. Blurb has lots of templates to choose from, so you don't have to use the standard one that it slurps into... you don't have to make up your own - but you can if you want - it just takes a while to pick one for each page depending on how many pictures there are, etc :)

I LOVE the new look and title of your blog! It is special that you kept "Jaxon's fight" in there.
I don't think I ever mentioned that I have followed your story since you were out of the country to get your princess. Heard about you on RR...I comb over those pictures all the time praying for those sweet children. I am in the process of adopting a special needs toddler here in the states. He is not DS but I can relate to your posts in other ways. Prayers for Arina that all will go super well.

Love your new banner! It turned out so dang cute! How did you figure out how to do it? Good luck on the surgery today! Why are they keeping her overnight, is just because of the DS and anesthesia scare?
