A special delivery

I got another opportunity to hand deliver a blankie yesterday. Julie, my right hand blankie women, told me she knew of a baby in the NICU. This sweet baby has spina bifida, ompholacele, and short gut. So we headed up there with a blankie in hand. He looks beautiful, as you can see. Was just extubated that morning so we got to see his little face. This is his mommy holding him for the first time with no vent tube. I love to be able to hand deliver blankies, I wish I could do that with all of them, so I could meet all of these warriors.

I took a walk down memory lane while working on this appeal for daddy's school. They said he didn't make sufficient progress in fall 2005, spring 2006. Well I can tell you why. Jax was born November 2005, and spent half of 2006 in the hospital. So we had to appeal this to get financial aid. So we had to write a letter and put paperwork to back it up. So I was going through medical records I have for Jax. I would like to get all his records, but now you have to pay for them and with his records just for his one long 4 month stay would be hundreds of dollars. I only have the week of his brain injury that my lawyer got. And just that one week is in a 4 inch binder. I also have his birth and NICU records. But reading through those brings a lot of memories back. Memories of my little fighter, how sick he really was. And how lucky we are that he is still here. I'll have to copy one and post it sometime. They are really interesting, at least I think so.

For all those people that ask if Jax O's are ever in his nose. The answer would be a no.

What a sweet baby! I bet they appreciated you delivering the blankie to them!

It can be so trying going back in your mind, those scaring days in the hospital! I cry every time that I think back to the week that Gavin had his stroke. I HATE to think of how he suffered and I hate thinking that something could have been done to prevent this! UGH!

I hope that the school takes all of this proof into consideration! And, your husband can get financial aid!

What a cute picture of Jax sleeping! I had a feeling that it was rarely in his nose! HA!

I love the pic of Jax. Sweetest look on his sleeping face.

Oh my goodness, Kaelyn was in the same room with that baby...they just moved him to a different room last night. Too bad we didn't run it to each other.

I bet that mama was very grateful for you! You're amazing.
Lily stills talks about Jaxson not keeping the tube in his nose!

That is awesome that you were able to hand delivery the blanket to the baby. What a cute little guy!

It is so hard to think of the worst times. We sat through an 18 minute cardiac arrest in 2005. I can't even think about it without wanting to throw up.

Blech.

So in other thoughts, the photo of Jaxson sleeping is adorable. He certainly doesn't like his o's in his nose!

I'm so glad we're not the only ones who eat their oxygen instead of inhaling it!
